KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - An East Tennessee couple was sentenced on Thursday for sexual exploitation of a child, the Department of Justice said.
According to filed court documents, the DOJ said FBI agents, the Ninth Judicial District Task Force and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into a report by a girl who said she had received a video over Snapchat from an unknown account.
The video, investigators said, the girl was “in an intoxicated state being sexually assaulted” by 21-year-old Darrison Hood, of Wartburn, and 24-year-old Keirsten Hooper, of Sunbright, with a gun.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Hood’s home and found the gun used in the assault, the DOJ said. Hood later told authorities he owned the firearm, made the video and sent it to the victim, but said he deleted it afterwards.
Hood and Harper entered a plea agreement to each plead guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child, the DOJ said. On Thursday, they were both sentenced to 15 years behind bars.
After Hood and Harper are released, they will both be on supervised release for 10 years and will have to comply with the Sex Offender Registry requirements.
